Procedures

We offer the following procedures to help diagnose and treat gastrointestinal diseases.

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is a safe, fast, and minimally invasive procedure, in which a trained physician uses a special instrument called a colonoscope to view the gastrointestinal (GI) tract; specifically the colon and rectum.

Upper Endoscopy (EGD)

Sometimes referred to as upper GI endoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), the upper endoscopy occurs when a physician needs to evaluate the lining of the upper part of the patient’s GI tract; including the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum (first portion of small intestine).

Comprehensive Colon Cancer Screening and Surveillance

The American Cancer Society recommends regular colon cancer screenings beginning at age 45, although patients with higher risk may need to begin screening earlier. There are several FDA-approved tests, including stool tests, computed tomography (CT) scans, and flexible sigmoidoscopy, with the most common screening being a colonoscopy.

Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

Similar to a colonoscopy, a Flexible Sigmoidoscopy occurs when a physician needs to appraise the lower part of the colon – lining of the rectum and the large intestine.

Small Bowel Biopsy

This is a diagnostic procedure that removes a small tissue sample from the small intestine for examination, The procedure can help identify diseases or abnormalities affecting the small intestine.

Upper Endoscopy with Dilation

This procedure involves using a flexible telescope to examine the inside of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum, and then gently stretching a narrowed area. This procedure can help diagnose, treat or rule out conditions of the upper GI tract.

Bravo PH Study

This technology allows physicians to accurately measure acid reflux for 48 hrs. in the esophagus and correlate the acid level in the esophagus with the symptoms.

Infrared coagulation (IRC)

A non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure that uses infrared light to treat hemorrhoids.
